So we noticed a warm spot on the floor near the hallway and the water bill jumped like crazy last month. A friend who does handyman work took a look and said it's probably a slab leak, which sounds terrifying and expensive. I've been trying to figure out who to call and honestly the options are overwhelming. Some companies charge just to come out and diagnose, others won't give you any idea of cost over the phone. I came across a page that listed plumbing services in Palo Alto and it helped me understand what kinds of issues local plumbers handle, but I'd still rather hear from real people about who they trust. Has anyone dealt with a slab leak around here? Did you go with a big company or a smaller shop? And how do you even know if they're giving you a fair price when you can't see the pipe? Any advice would be appreciated because I'm worried this is going to turn into a huge mess.
